今年の秋は日本中でカメムシが大量発生しておりまして、自然が豊かで山が近いここ奥飛騨温泉郷でも同じ状況です。

カメムシは独特の臭気を放つため不快に感じられる方も多いかと存じますが、奥飛騨をはじめとする山間地域では、毎年秋口に活動が活発になるごく一般的な昆虫でございます。

しかしながら、今年は気温の影響もあり、例年を大きく上回る数が発生しており、当館でも対応に苦慮しております。

当館では専門業者による月に１回ほどの定期的な防除・駆除・薬剤散布などを実施しておりますが、建物の構造上、どうしても完全に侵入を防ぐことが難しい状況でございます。万が一、お部屋の中に入り込んでしまった場合は、恐れ入りますが騒がず、そのままフロントまでご連絡いただくか、お部屋にガムテープを設置しておりますので、カメムシ本体を触らないように、粘着部分でカメムシの背中を軽く抑えると、手に匂いを付けることなく捕獲できます。

カメムシは見た目や臭気から敬遠されがちですが、衛生上害のある虫ではございません。

This autumn, Japan is experiencing an unusually large outbreak of stink bugs, and here in the Okuhida Hot Spring region—an area rich in nature and close to the mountains—the situation is the same.

Stink bugs emit a distinctive odor, which many people may find unpleasant. However, in mountainous regions such as Okuhida, they are very common insects whose activity increases every year in early autumn.

This year, due to temperature conditions, their numbers have far exceeded those of previous years, and even at our inn we are having difficulty managing the situation.

We conduct regular pest control, extermination, and pesticide treatments about once a month through a professional service. However, due to the structure of our buildings, it is unfortunately very difficult to prevent all insects from entering completely.

If a stink bug happens to enter your room, please do not panic. You may contact the front desk, or use the roll of tape provided in your room. Without touching the insect directly, gently press the sticky side of the tape onto the back of the bug—this will allow you to catch it without getting the odor on your hands.

Although stink bugs are often disliked because of their appearance and smell, they do not pose any health hazards.
